Centre for Radio-oncology

Radi-oncology, also known as radiotherapy, is a method of treating cancer by exposing a specific part of the body to high-intensity X-rays, which are directed precisely at the tumour.

Radio-oncology is a multi-disciplinary treatment that brings together radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, pathologists, radio-oncologists, oncologists and surgeons, who discuss each case in detail at weekly colloquia, also known as Tumour Boards, in order to jointly determine the best possible treatment option. Support care is provided in parallel, focusing on the coordinated management of disease-related difficulties.

Cancers treated by radiotherapy

  • Gynaecological cancers (breast, uterus, cervix)
  • Urological cancers (prostate, bladder, kidney, testicle)
  • Digestive cancers (rectum, anal canal, oesophagus, stomach)
  • ENT cancers
  • Lung cancers
  • Neurological cancers
  • Skin cancers
  • Other (lymphoma, soft tissue tumours, metastatic disease, brain, lung, bone, liver, lymph nodes, etc.)

Medical robots

Radio-oncology treatment uses a particle accelerator. This device delivers rays, or ionising radiation, in a highly targeted manner to the tumour volume; these rays will damage the DNA of the cancer cells, thus destroying them or preventing their progression, while sparing the peripheral healthy tissue.

Why choose the Papillon+™ at the Clinique Générale-Beaulieu ?

The Papillon+™ is a contact radiotherapy device. This means that it works with low-energy X-rays that will remain on the surface of the damaged tissue. The deeper, healthy organs are perfectly spared, so there are no side effects.

This technique is ideal for treating superficial skin tumours, such as basal and squamous cell cancers, as well as keloids. Cutaneous therapy is performed on an outpatient basis.

The second ideal indication for treatment with Papillon+™ is early rectal cancer. Thanks to its targeted endocavitary action, the Papillon+™ technique makes it possible to avoid surgery in certain cases. This promotes organ conservation, enabling patients to continue living as normal a life as possible.
